A Mobile Skate ramp Session was held at
Cwmnedd
Primary School in Glynneath on Tuesday 14th August 2012. The sessions have been organised by Miss Sophie Wright
Play Development Worker with Neath/Port Talbot Council as part of the “Play Works!” scheme. Children are encouraged to come along with their bikes, skateboards or scooters and join in the fun. The session took place between 10.30 am and 12.30 pm and was in two parts whereby the children with scooters/skateboards had the first run and the “bikers” the second. While the first session was in progress the “bikers” had a presentation given to them on the Safe use of bikes when they were out and about in Glynneath, by PCSO Barrie Jones of the Glynneath NPT.
Sophie Wright stated:
‘Play Works!’ is a celebration of children's right to play and highlights the importance of play in children's lives. These sessions give them an opportunity to do so in a safe environment whilst having fun and enjoyment.
PCSO Barrie Jones stated:
Whilst we all agree that cycling is fun, keeps us fit and helps keep the air we breathe cleaner, cyclists have a responsibility when out on their bikes. As Bicycles are, in law classed as carriages under the Highways act 1835 section 72, there are rules to follow and the “bikers” were educated with these rules.
The last session for Glynneath is on the 21st august
