Operation Snapper

Date Published: 19/04/2010

This is a joint operation aimed at the anti-social use of vehicles, involving Neighborhood Police Officers, the Roads Policing Unit and VOSA (The Vehicle and Operator Services Agency).

The main purpose of the operation is to check the vehicles and drivers that gather in the area to see if the vehicles are roadworthy, offer suitable advice to the occupants on their behavior and where appropriate issue fixed penalty notices or have the car removed.

There is a minority who do not obey the law and it is this minority who will be targeted during this operation.

The main issues are cars which are not roadworthy, excessive noise from the vehicle, the playing of loud music, racing, drugs, dropping litter and screeching tyres.

We would ask that motorists consider the effects of their actions on local residents and that they respect their right to peace and quiet.

We will be carrying out operations with our partner agencies on a regular basis throughout the summer.

The Neighborhood Policing Team will also continue to patrol the area and will take positive action against offenders.
