Police praise public as tip-offs lead to arrests and major drugs bust in Swansea

POLICE have thanked the public for their help after tip-offs led to a major drugs bust in a Swansea community.
More than £3,000 worth of heroin and cocaine was found in a swoop on a house in the Sandfields area of the city centre.
The operation also saw four people arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs with intent to supply.
The Evening Post understands the raid involved a house in Bond Street.
Officers say they executed the search warrant following information from members of the public — and they are urging people to continue coming forward.
Sergeant Mike Francis said: "This significant seizure was a direct a result of information which was received from members of the public, and these drugs will not now find their way on to the streets of Swansea to cause harm and misery to others.
"This is an excellent example of how the members of the public can help us in the battle against drugs.
"We will not tolerate individuals who supply and deal in our communities, and those that are caught can expect to face the full force of the law."
He added: "I would appeal to anyone with information on those who are involved in drug or criminal activities to come forward."
The people arrested — three men aged 42, 40 and 36 and a 37-year-old woman — have been released on bail pending further inquiries.
The raid is the latest action in the on-going Heroin Ruins Lives operation, a high-profile crackdown on the drugs trade across Swansea.
South Wales Police chief superintendent Mark Mathias — the man in overall charge of policing in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot — said: "Be courageous, pick up the phone. This really does matter — heroin kills."
