Paws On Patrol

Paws on Patrol

Community conscious dog walkers are invited to take part in our new initiative aimed at making Swansea an even safer place.

The Scheme

The Safer Swansea Partnership believes that the 1000's of dog walkers within the City and County of Swansea can play an important role in making neighbourhoods safer.

Swansea is enjoying its lowest crime figures in 25 years and to make Swansea an even safer city we rely on support from the public.

This initiative aims to give dog walkers the tools and confidence to act as eyes and ears for their community while out exercising Man's Best Friend.

Paul Evans, City and County of Swansea Crime Prevention Officer, said: "Dog walkers spend a lot of time out and about in their communities and would be highly likely to recognise when something out of the ordinary is happening."

Paws on Patrol links in with existing community initiatives such as Neighbourhood Watch and Police Community Support Officers (PCSO's).

The Launch

Paws on Patrol was launched on Sunday, October 9, 2011, at Singleton Park. The response was fantastic with over 100 dog walkers attending to become members of the scheme. The numbers continue to rise as dog walkers approach Safer Swansea wanting to join.
