Conor Fogel

Connor Fogel a year 13 pupil from Treorchy Comprehensive School has proved that dreams really do come true with commitment and passion.

At the age of 15 Connor decided to put his passion into practice and has dedicated his time in developing a Community Choir within the Ystrad area. The choir not only benefits both charity organisations, but also helps community members escape every day woes and do what they love doing best. Connor said ‘ It has resulted in groups of people, both young and old, getting to know each other, all who have a common interest they love to sing.’

During 2011 the Redfield Community Choir was supported by Ystrad and Llwynypia Communitioes First by holding a concert to raise money for charity, where the choir raised over £750 for their chosen charity LATCH. The community choir perform regularly in nursing and care homes, at church events and are in demand by many other societies and organisations. Conor also often attends at the Ystrad PACT meeting.

Since performing at the event the choir has gone from strength to strength including an invite from the Mayor to perform at the Mayors Parlour.

Both 2011 and 2012 have proved very sccessful years for Connor not only has he achieved recognition from his school and the mayor, Conor was awarded the Princess Diana Memorial Award for Inspirational Young People in June 2011 and in 2012 PCSO Cherylin Pryor nominated Conor for The High Sheriff Youth Community Award and he won first prize.
