Anti Social Behaviour - Park

Date of Meeting: 21/08/2008
Meeting: Resolven Community Centre @ 6.30pm
Summary: Complaints of groups of youths in the Park particularly between 7pm and 11pm in the evenings. They are using the swings as goalposts, drinking alcohol, littering and generally causing a nuisance. Regular patrols to be made by Officers in the area and positive action to be taken with confiscation of any alcohol present and submission of stop search forms and asbo referrals.

Attended at 45,Rugby Road, and spoke to Mr.CRAWLEY who has stated that apart from a few revellers on Saturday night things were quiet on the weekend just past.

The park was patrolled at 2pm and a local resident spoken to about the problems. The park was being used by a mother and infant. No problems encountered.

The park and surrounding streets were patrolled over the day and was found to be quiet with members of the public spoken to reporting that the weekend did see some youths in the park but they did not cause any problems.

During numerous poatrols of the park and the surrounding area there were no instances of anti-social behaviour observed or reported and small groups of young children were found to be using the park as intended. At 10PM we attended the park and found teenage boys in the park, they were not loud and were quietly sitting on the bench chatting.

Over the course of an evening shift numerous patrols of the park and the surrounding streets were conducted with all found to be quiet and no anti-social behaviour was observed or reported by local residents spoken to. At 2110 a small group of youths were found in the park, they were not loud or anti-social and after being spoken to they quietly left the area. The surrounding streets were still quiet at this time of attendance.

Attended at 45,RUGBY ROAD, and spoke to resident Mr.Fredrick CRAWLEY who informed me that matters had improved in relationj to Anti Social Beahaviour in and around the park opposite.

PCSO Cole patrolled the park and surrounding streets over the course of the shift a number of times and found the park being used by yopung children with no older youths present. Children spoken to said that no older youths had been in the park. The surrounding area, notably Railway Terrace, Rugby Road and John Street were also patrolled and found to be quiet with no instances of anti-social behaviour observed or reported by locals spoken to.

Over the course of a day shift PCSO Cole patrolled the park and the surrounding streets on a number of occasions. Young children were seen to be using the park as intended and no older youths were present at times of attendance.

On Saturday 04.10.08, foot patrols were conducted a number of times by PCSO Cole of the park and the surrounding area and all was found to be quiet with only a small group of youths found to be using the facilities for the intended purpose. John Street, Yeo Street, Cory street, Rugby Road and Railway Terrace were also found to be quiet at times of attendance.

During the course of the evening the area surrounding the park was patrolled a number of times. During theses patrols Rugby Road, Railway Terrace, John Street, Yeo Street and Cory Street were found to be quiet with no groups of youths present at times of attendance. At 2115 a small group of youths were found in the park, there was no alcohol present and the youths were quiet and left the park area after speaking to officers.

Over the course of an evening shift several patrols were conducted in the area surrounding the park. During an early evening patrol no youths were present in the park and foot patrols of Rugby Road, John Street, Cory Street, Yeo Street and Railway Terrace were also quiet with no problems observed or reported with only a small number of youths found to be moving through the area. During a later foot patrol a small group of youths were found to be in the park talking. When spoken to they were quiet and were not in possession of any alcohol. They left the park quietly as I moved on from the area.

Officers have attended at a residents address at RUGBY ROAD and liased with a resident who has experienced problems in the past.The resident has reported that matters have been quiet over the weekend with the exeption of a very few late night revellers, who did not cause problems. A residents address was visited in RAILWAY TERRACE which is another area of anti social behaviour , however the resident was not avaiable for an update. No incidents of anti social behaviuor have been recieved over the weekend.

The park was patrolled by NPT at 15:30 hours and young children were observed using the facilities as intended.

The park was patrolled by the Neighbourhood Policing Team at 22:45 hours and was found to be empty.

Patrols conducted by members of the NPT with no problems noted at times of attendance with only young children found to be present.

Officers have at 21.40 hours carried out patrols of The Square ,Railway Terrace and Rugby Road.calling in at addresses of residents who have identified these area as areas of particular concern.Officers have liased with residents and provided reassurance that regular patrols would be conducted.

Visited the park at 16:35 hours and found five children playing on the climbing frame. No signs of anti-social behaviour.

The park was patrolled in the early afternoon by PCSO Cole with only a small group of youths present with no anti-social behaviour observed or reported.

The area in around the park was patrolled by PCSO Cole in the evening and was found to be quiet at the time of attendance with no poersons present. There were however signs of recent drinking with a number of discarded lager cans.

The park was visited by Neighbourhood officers at 7:10pm. Three children were seen playing in the park. There was no anti-social behaviour or evidence of it.

The park was checked at 8:05pm and three teenage youths (two girls and a boy) were seen sitting in the climbing frame quietly talking. No evidence of anti - social behaviour or alcohol present.

Foot patrols of Resolven park and other areas of Resolven conducted by NBO's and PCSO's with no problems reported or observed.

PCSO's patrolled the park and other areas of Resolven on two occasions, in the afternoon and early evening and no instances of anti-social behaviour were reported or observed.

The park was attended by Neighbourhood Police Officers at 8pm. There were no persons using the facility.

Neighbourhood Police Officers visited at the park at 8pm and again at 9:15pm and found no persons present drinking alcohol or acting in an anti-social manner.

Neighbourhood Police Officers Patrolled the park on two occasions during the evening of Tuesday 17th June. No persons present but evidence that alcohol is being consumed at the location.
