Cwmllynfell
ward covers
The Llynfell valley is at the heart of the community of Cwmllynfell with the mountains of the Brecon Beacons National Park to the north and Mynydd y Gwrhyd to the south. The main modern settlement is Cwmllynfell with the smaller village of Rhiwfawr on the eastern slopes of Mynydd y Gwrhyd above the river Twrch.
Both villages have their origins as 19th centuary mining settlements although the farming traditiions of the area extend back over many centuries. A wealth of heritage and beautiful landscapes can be explored in this area. The old Miners Welfare Hall at Cwmllynfell was rebuilt as the Millenium Hall in 2002, proof that this proud mining community is looking to the future, whilst remembering its past.
