PACT Projects
To view information on a PACT Project click the link. The current PACT Projects are:
- Fairway focus group meetings
- Anti social behaviour in the shops area of fairway, youths causing annoyance in the shops and in the surrounding area. For example kicking footballs in the street at cars and shops, youths getting adults to proxy buy alcohol in the local shops, and generally hanging around in large groups.
- School watch
- The aim of school watch is to link in with the schools and work together to lower incidents of criminal damage and anti social behaviour in the vicinity of the schools
- Dog Fouling (sandfields area)
- Dogs with their owners fouling in the estate and beach front. Stray dogs also roaming the streets.
- trading standards opp
- Youths managing to get alcohol from underage sales and proxy purchasing throughout the sandfields estate.
- offroad motorcyle opp
- several motorcycles throughout the estate causing annoyance and anti social behaviour, carrying up to three passengers on the motorcycle also wearing no helmets and at anti social hours.
- Tag your tots
- Giving wrist bands to children with parents contact details on them if they become separated from their parents.
- Beach PACT meeting
- With the lovely sun south Wales is having Sandfields neighbourhood policing team are holding a beach pact meeting so that all problems can be heard no matter what area you live, and details can be passed to relevant officers. This will be held on 7th September 2009 between 1200- 1400.
- Anti social use of vehicles, beachfront
- We’ve been having a lot of problems with cars racing on the beach front, causing anti social behaviour as well as a potential danger to other road users in the area. I held a residents meeting at ysbryd y mor nursing home on the beachfront and they believe it is only a matter of time until someone is seriously injured or killed as a result of their actions. The problem is an ongoing priority and has been looked into by Sandfields neighbourhood policing team. The problem is being caused by both cars and motorbikes.
The times are around late evening mainly weekends but no particular days.
- Speed exercise with local school pupils
- Speed exercise with local school pupils
Vehicles throughout the estate speed past schools and don’t think of the consequences so sandfields neighbourhood policing team attended the local primary school Tir Morfa to conduct a speed camera scoping exercise with the Year 2 and Year 5 classes, 24 cars speeds were recorded and the average speed of the road 15 MPH. The children enjoyed the afternoon learning about the Highway Code and the exercise fitted in well with what they are learning about ‘road safety’. Hopefully this will make people driving past the school etc think about their speed whilst driving.
