Illtyd
ward covers
Illtyd Ward is located at the west end of Barry, and stretches from Port Road West to
Broad Street. The ward has a very large residential population and is lucky to have
two main shopping areas in Park Crescent and High Street, which also consist of public
houses and restaurants. The area's main attraction is Porthkerry Park which has 220 acres of woods and meadowland in a sheltered valley, leading to a pebble beach and spectacular cliffs. There are also nature trails, picnic sites, a cafe, play area/barbeque area and mini golf courses for the public to utilise. There are two primary schools and two comprehensive schools within the ward, one of those being a Welsh language school.
