PACT Projects
To view information on a PACT Project click the link. The current PACT Projects are:
- NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH SCHEMES
- Thinking of setting up a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme in your area ??? Then contact your local Police Officers who will assist you all the way. Become and active partnership with your local Police.
Getting together with your neighbours to take action can cut local crime.
- CYCLING ON PAVEMENTS IN AND AROUND THE CANTON AREA
- Local Pact residents of Canton have complained of the number of pedal cyclist using the pavements for riding upon.
Officers have been directed to stop all cyclists that are seen riding on the pavements. They have been directed to obtain the details of the person in question and then to use their discretion as to the way that that person is dealt with.
We have decided that booking absolutely everyone is not the answer and that we are not going to take a Zero Tolerance approach.
Offenders are to be advised that they are committing an offence, and that should they be caught again, they will be issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice worth 30
Again this project was highlighted at last nights PACT meeting 7th March, 2012 - Officers have assured residents that they are doing all they can in stopping cyclists riding on pavements.
As you will have seen from the media on 9th July, 2012 Canton Neighbourhood Officers and local Councillors are still working together to address the issue of cycling on pavements and safety to pedestrians.
Officers are still monitoring the cyclists and at last nights pact meeting residents were still adamant that they would like to see more fixed penalty tickets issued rather than educating.
Canton NPT are still monitoring the area for pedal cyclist.
- STREET BEGGING
- Local Canton residents have complained of persons begging on Cowbridge Road East. Officers have submited anti social behaviour referral forms when persons have been seen. We at Canton Neighbourhood Policing request you to ring 101 when any persons are seen begging in the street.
At last nights PACT meeting members were informed that the street begging is being dealt with via anti social behaviour referrals and that persons seen by Officers are know to Police.
