Whitchurch Road Business PACT
South Wales Police are liaising with local business in order to set up a PACT meeting for the business managers/owners on Whitchurch Rd. The first 'drop in' PACT washeld on Tuesday 7th July from 9:00 am - 12pm at the Pretence coffee shop on Whitchurch Rd. All local businesses and interested parties are invited to come along and meet their local neighbourhood policing team.
Improved Publicity for Future PACT Meetings
PACT Publicity. Priority to find new publicity opportunities to raise the profile of PACT and encourage greater community attendance and participation at PACT meetings. – prepare PACT poster. – liaise with Real Radio – raise at Business PACT drop in surgery – coordinate poster display at local public places (Dr surgeries, Maindy Pool, Schools, Churches, etc.) – leaflet drop local streets and houses. Priority Objective – To raise awareness and increase PACT meeting attendance.
Bogus Caller Safety Zones
Vulnerable people living in the Gabalfa, Whitchurch Rd, Mynachdy areas are at risk of becoming victims of bogus callers at their homes. Local police officers in partnership with Trading Standards are identifying clusters of streets with a high proportion of vulnerable people living there. We are going to begin this scheme with the ‘Colony’ Rds leading from Whitchurch Rd, e.g. Canada Rd, Australia Rd and Africa Gardens. These streets will be designated ‘safe zones’ with signage being placed at the entrance to the streets to this effect. Identified properties will be visited by an officer from Trading Standards, who will offer advice and an information pack informing residents how to deal with unknown callers at their home. Home security advice will also be offered at these visits and referrals made to ‘Homesafe’ where appropriate in order that locks, safety catch etc may be added or upgraded. This is a six month project that will be reviewed at the end of this time and hopefully expanded to other areas.
