The Sandfields neighbourhood team carried out a speed operation on the junction of Hospital Road and Vivian Park Drive on Saturday 21st August 2010.
Further speed operations will be carried out during the coming weeks and offenders will be issued with warning notices.

Sandfields East problem areas patroled at various times of the day, drivers spoken with about accepted behaviour Apollo cinema, area patrolled. Suitable advice given to motorists at car park.

An Operation (Snapper 3) was conducted in partnership with the DVLA, VOSA and the Police on Princess Margaret Way on Friday evening (02/07/10).
Operation SNAPPER 3 went very well with twenty six vehicles being stop checked. Nine of those vehicles were issued with prohibition notices as a result of serious defects and will require new MOT’S before the prohibitions are lifted by VOSA. Each and every driver was breathalysed with a negative result. One driver was arrested and issued with a Street Warning for Cannabis. A second person was arrested for possession of Amphetamine and Mephedrone (meow meow) and was later cautioned for Possession in custody. I patrolled the area today at 3:45pm and stopped the rider of a moped as a routine check. I issued the rider with an HORT1 slip, requesting the production of driving documents.

I carried out a patrol of the Apollo Cinema car park at 7:30pm on Wednesday 16th June 2010.
At this time there were a number of vehicles present. I spoke to the drivers and advised them of the issues in the area . The vehicles left then left the area.

Patrols have been carried out over the weekend and it has been quiet in the Apollo car park.
There were hardly any drivers in the area and I have only had one call about this area since my last update. This call related to damage to a vehicle that was parked in the car park overnight on the 27th May 2010.

Regular patrols have been taking place in the area, there have been reports of two incidents involving cars along Princess Margaret Way, on the 23/5 at 19:20hrs a report of a vehicle driving in an eratic manner going up towards the Lido was recieved by an annon caller, and no reg number. The second was on the 25/5 at 09:05, when a report was recieved of a narrow miss of a pedestrian on the zebra crossing. There were no calls or sightings of inappropriate vehicle use in the Apollo Cinema.

We have carried out regular patrols of the car park and have spoken to a number of drivers present who were not behaving anti socially. We informed them of this issue and advised them accordingly.

The Communty Safety team carried out anti social behaviour patrols in the area at 11:30pm on Thursday 13th May 2010.
There were no issues in the area at the time of the patrol.

Action Plan.
The Neighbourhood Policing Team propose to hold a meeting with representatives from local businesses and the local authority with a view to discussing options to prevent, educate and deter “boy racers” from attending the location.
Officers will also run a joint operation with VOSA, DVLA, and Local Authority targeting offenders.
NPT will monitor the situation, with high visible patrols and speed surveys as this priority is aimed at the Council.
