- >> Operation Empire continues throughout the Cynon South area - 16/06/2012
From PCSO Crowdey;
We have continued with our operation whereby we are patrolling school and church grounds etc checking that all is in order. Also this week I have been liaising with our partner agencies at Fernhill planning a clean up day on site during the month of July - hopefully, the weather will have brightened up by then! We are hoping to clear all of the debris and rubbish away from the brook area and to re enforce the message that any fly tipping will be reported to RCT for actioning.
- >> Street briefing held at Glenboi and awareness campaign continuing - 08/06/2012
From PCSO Crowdey;
We held our street briefing at Glenboi over the weekend and we have continued to patrol the Fernhill Estate speaking with residents and raising awareness of our PACT priority in this location. House to house enquiries have been carried out with regards to the possible theft of a metal railing fence and cctv checks are in progress as part of the investigation. We have also been checking our local schools during the evening times as part of our ongoing Operation Empire.
- >> Evening patrols this week combating anti social behaviour - 08/06/2012
From PCSO Crowdey;
This week we have been carrying out evening time patrols at Fernhill Estate. I have caught several local children climbing scaffolding and using the onsite contractors ladders and equipment to climb onto the sited portocabins on the estate. Not only is this extremely dangerous for the youths involved but is also causing a nuisance to residents who have scaffolding erected around their houses at the moment. The youths responsible have been escorted home and their parents have been spoken to regarding this also anti social behaviour reports have been submitted. We have also recovered some materials and equipment belonging to the contractors that had been removed from within their compound and we have since returned them to the company. We work closely with RCT Homes Tennant Liaison officers to ensure that we minimise any thefts and anti social incidents particularly whilst the renovation works are ongoing throughout the estate.
- >> Street briefings and patrols in progress. - 02/06/2012
From PCSO Crowdey;
We have prepared our residents at Glenboi and Fernhill for the start of our planned street briefings this week by delivering invitation letters to addresses. We have already spoken to residents at Glenboi regarding our PACT priority of metal theft prevention and we hope to have a good number of residents to join us on Sunday afternoon's meeting in the area. We will be distributing crime prevention advice leaflets to everyone at the briefing. We have also been patrolling our local schools and churches etc during evening hours as per our specially targetted Operations which will run all the waythrough the summertime. We shall also be present at Fernhill on Saturday when the estate will becelebrating the Jubilee events at the local community centre.
- >> Working in partnership within our community - 25/05/2012
From PCSO Crowdey;
This week PC Weyman and I have been working in partnership with RCT Homes on a project with Glenboi Primary school. We have been making a video and filming with a film crew within the Fernhill Estate area. The weather has been on our side and whilst working on our project, we have been able to gather intelligence around the site. All of our officers have been routinely stopping and checking any vehicles carrying scrap metal but so far everything has been in order. This weekend, PC Weyman and I will be assisting with events in Merthyr Tydfil with regards to the Olympic Torch coming to Wales.
- >> Foot patrols at Fernhill. - 16/05/2012
From PCSO Crowdey;
PC Weyman and I have been out and about at Fernhill this week patrolling the site. Our PACT priority in this location involves us stopping and checking vehicles carrying scrap metal. So far this week we have had no reports or sightings of such vehicles, however, we plan to carry out several street briefings in various parts of the estate to raise awareness of residents to metal thefts and of travelling scrap metal collectors. Further updates regarding these briefings will follow, Glenboi and the surrounding areas will also be alerted regarding this. The street briefings will take place over the coming weeks. The Residents association is also available for residents to report any suspicious activity or concerns to us also.
- >> Scrap Metal Collectors - 11/05/2012
- NPT officers are monitoring any scrap metal collectors seen in the area. Stop checks are being carried out on all suspicious vehicles.
Conclusion
What we did
After stop checking scarp vehicles around this area, carrying out a series of street briefings and letter drops to raise public awareness of this type of crime, it was decided that this priority should be finalised in favour of more pressing matters such as our seasonal park anti social issues. Operation Empre is also ongoing in order to protect and prevent lead and metal thefts from our local schools and churches etc.
