Ystalyfera is a vaillage located between Pontardawe and Ystradgynlais. It is on the border of Neath Port Talbot Council and Dyfed Powys. The village is a welsh community. The approx population for Ystalyfera in 2008 is 2,982. Ystalyfera has a Trust, Community First, Rugby Club, Child care nursery, 3 Hairdressers, 6 Public Houses, Welsh Primary School, Comprehensive School at the centre of the Village, Cafe, Newsagents, Grocery Shops, Takeaways and a Restaurant. There is also a multi games area for the children in addition to 3 parks which are maintained by the Council.
