Prostitution and related criminal activity
Prostitution continues to be of concern to the the police and residents of Splott. Police will continue to mount operations at night targeting not only the prostitutes but their clients. Kerb crawlers are being issued with anti-social behaviour warnings. three of these can result in a court appearance with the associated consequences. Street sex workers are now given the opportunity to receive support to help them with their drug problems and find alternatives to prostitution. Those who engage with the 'Street Life' workers on a regular basis and make efforts to change their way of life will not be referred for criminal prosecution. If however they are again found by the police to be working the streets they will receive further cautions and ultimately be subject to arrest for soliciting.
