The department has many unique roles within the division which covers the Capital City of Wales, Cardiff, Crime Reduction, Community Safety, Hate Crime Officers, Anti-Social Behaviour Unit, Youth Liaison and Schools Liaison Officers.
The objectives of Community Safety Department is to identify the needs and concerns of the public and initiate action to improve feelings of safety, to formulate partnership agreements with new unitary authorities and to ensure that community safety issues are reflected in divisional objectives.
To this end the Community Safety Department in Cardiff has involvement in numerous projects and initiatives throughout the City which impact on persons of all ages and cultural backgrounds.
A lot of proactive work that the department does on a daily basis can be seen to fit into the crime prevention and reduction agenda. The role of the department is to provide support, information and assistance to all staff and to work with other internal and external departments and agencies to promote community safety within Cardiff.
