PC Bob Rand
I am PC Bob Rand and I am the Defence Community Police Officer for MoD St. Athan, located in the Vale of Glamorgan.
Defence Community Police Officers are dedicated MDP officers whose role is to provide a high visibility uniformed presence in the Service Family Areas. There are two Service Family Areas at MoD St. Athan – one on the West and one on the East side of the camp with a total of approximately 300 houses.
Most officers work either singly or in pairs and whatever the complement, the role is the same – they are dedicated to serving the Service Community.
The role has already been effective in improving community safety and reducing crime and anti-social behaviour. By working closely with our communities, officers can assist families by dealing with local issues which impact on their quality of life.
Officers work in partnership with local police forces, Service Police, Commanding Officers, Service Welfare and other MoD stakeholders and commercial partners, as well as local authorities and community groups. Assistance is available specific to individual needs with the aim of providing a safer environment for Service Family Areas.
